About InformEd States

InformEd States is a clearinghouse for policy analysis, original research, data, and rigorous evidence on the equity and effectiveness of state higher education funding policies.

Our work supports and informs future legislative decisions by state policymakers and serves as a leading resource for other researchers and journalists covering higher education.

Some of the higher education funding questions this project will tackle include:

  • Do higher education funding policies meet their intended goals?

  • What are the unintended consequences of higher education policies, particularly for underserved students and under-resourced institutions?

  • How can higher education policies be designed with equity in mind?

  • Are state higher education policies effective in improving student outcomes?

Our multi-institutional team of researchers first joined together in 2017 in order to share our research, data, and expertise on state higher education policy. In 2019, we officially became InformEd States and launched this website to house our work in one place, making it simpler and easier for our core audiences to find what they need.

At InformEd States, you will find policy briefs, academic papers, accessible data, and rigorous evidence on today’s leading higher education policy issues at the state level.

We hope you’ll find what you’re looking for here. If you have any questions, or would like to speak to one of our higher education policy experts, please reach out to info@informedstates.org.
